Volt enables Profee wallet top-ups via USDC, bringing stablecoin pay-ins to cross-border remittance
London, 25th June 2026: Volt, the real-time, rail-agnostic money movement platform, has gone live with its stablecoin checkout for Profee, a Cyprus-based electronic money institution focusing on cross-currency money transfers. Profee’s customers can now top up their Profee wallets – and in-app balance – using USDC (from stablecoin balances held in their own crypto wallets, with Volt handling acceptance, on-chain confirmation and settlement to Profee in fiat). Once funded, the fiat balance on the Profee wallet can be used for Profee cross-border money transfers and virtual card top-ups.
The integration opens a new path into Profee for a growing segment of consumers who already hold balances in stablecoins: freelancers paid in USDC, and diaspora workers using crypto wallets as a day-to-day account. For Profee, the new feature will also simplify the expansion into markets with volatile local currencies, where potential clients treat dollar-denominated stablecoins as their de facto savings. Customers with crypto balances have had to previously off-ramp into a bank account before they could fund their Profee wallet. With Volt, they can top up directly from MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Phantom, Trust and more – and from there, use their Profee wallet to send money abroad, spend on a Profee card, or access any other Profee service.
Until now, accepting stablecoins as a regulated, established merchant has typically meant standing up a parallel payments stack – a separate integration, separate reconciliation, and a separate compliance posture from the rest of the business. Volt’s stablecoin pay-ins bring USDC acceptance onto the same real-time platform that already powers account-to-account payments for merchants across more than 30 markets.
For Profee – a Cyprus-headquartered, CBC-authorised money transfer service active across more than 90 corridors – customers can now use stablecoin balances to top up their Profee accounts with the same transparency and operational rigour as a bank payment.
Steffen Vollert, Co-founder and CEO at Volt, said: “Our mantra of ‘real-time payments everywhere’ depends on being rail-agnostic – meeting consumers wherever they hold their balances, on whichever rail they choose. A meaningful share of senders now hold those balances in USDC rather than in a bank account. There is no technical reason a regulated merchant should accept fiat through one stack and stablecoins through another. Profee is taking both on the same platform – same API, same settlement flow, same controls as Pay by Bank. Real-time payments everywhere, on whatever rail the consumer chooses: that is the system we set out to build.”
Artemis Rossides, General Manager at Profee, added: "Embracing stablecoins has been on our roadmap for some time – Profee has always been a brand that moves with technology, not behind it. What we needed was a partner who could deliver that capability without compromising the regulated, controlled experience our customers rely on. We launched with Volt in May 2025 to offer seamless bank-account transfers, and from day one the integration proved exactly the kind of reliable, low-friction infrastructure we were looking for. Extending that partnership to a stablecoin checkout feels like a natural next step: for the customer, it's a few taps in a wallet they already use; for us, it deepens a relationship that is already delivering real value. Working with Volt lets us open USDC as an alternative way to top up their Profee account in fiat, without disrupting the regulated, controlled experience our customers rely on, and without adding complexity to our own operations. We're excited to push the boundaries of what Profee can offer – and to do it with a partner we trust."
Profee’s USDC top-up is live today for eligible customers in the European Union. Volt manages the full acceptance flow – wallet connection, on-chain confirmation, exchange rates, and fiat settlement to Profee – with KYC, AML and transaction monitoring controls applied consistently with traditional payment methods on the platform. Profee’s ledger, treasury and reconciliation systems are unchanged.
The launch coincides with accelerating regulatory clarity for stablecoins on both sides of the Atlantic. In the United States, the GENIUS Act has established the country’s first federal framework for payment stablecoins, while the broader Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act cleared the Senate Banking Committee on 14th May 2026 and has since been placed on the Senate Legislative Calendar, putting it in line for potential full Senate consideration. In the European Union, MiCA’s stablecoin regime has applied since 30th June 2024, with the regulation becoming fully applicable from 30th December 2024. For regulated merchants weighing stablecoin acceptance, the direction of travel is increasingly clear.
Vollert added: “We expect many more merchants to join Profee in offering their shoppers stablecoin payments at checkout. In addition to the remittance space, we see growing merchant curiosity about stablecoin acceptance in retail, travel, and automotive. These established businesses increasingly view stablecoins not as a crypto product, but as a faster, more programmable payment rail – particularly for cross-border use cases. With CLARITY advancing in the US and MiCA in force across Europe, that view now has regulatory ground beneath it. Our job is to make that integration unremarkable: one API, one settlement flow, one operational posture, for whichever rail the consumer chose.”
